Damzels hit the runway!

Posted on 05 April 2017

Damzels in this Dress launch a runway reprise for the first time in a decade!

Giddy Up!

Want to know what rock n’ roll, the Grand Ole’ Opry, burlesque and a Jewish immigrant tailor all have in common?

Damzels in this Dress have been looking to the past for inspiration for their dress collections since their inception in 1994 and are thrilled to rock the runway again for the first time in ten years with their Spring 2017 line entitled “Giddy Up”.

This April 19, as part of Fashion Arts Toronto, Kelly Freeman and Rory Lindo, designers of Damzels in this Dress, reignite their love of vintage rock n’ roll styling with a cute wink to the Grand Ole Opry, and a tip of the figurative cowboy hat to Nudie Cohn.

Cohn, best known for his hallmark designs for the stars of country music, landed on Ellis Island from Eastern Europe in his youth, got his start as a tailor for the burlesque community and quickly became a celebrity amongst celebrities by creating one of a kind looks for artists like Hank Williams, Dolly Parton, and Elvis Presley.

Dresses emblazoned with rhinestones, embroidery and sequins will strut the runway in their signature fits and styles. As always, Damzels will utilize models of all shapes and sizes to highlight the collection and diversity of their customer base.

Love Damzels dresses and want to get up close and personal with the new designs? Well Damzels haven’t been around for twenty plus years if they didn’t give the people what they want.

Join Freeman and Lindo April 27, 7-9pm at their Roncesvalles store location for their “Runway to Retail” celebration. Cocktails and hors d’oeuvre compliments of REYKA vodka , performances by honky-tonk showman Colonel Tom and retail ready versions of the Spring 2017 collection will be on deck.
